A 33-year-old teacher is in police custody in north-central interior B.C. for a charge of child exploitation.
Vincent Collins was arrested Thursday morning (April 8) and subsequently charged after 100 Mile House RCMP conducted an investigation into allegations of child exploitation involving a female youth.
Collins is a teacher at Peter Skene Secondary, member of School District 27 (SD27) Cariboo-Chilcotin.
He was on his way to work when he was taken into custody by Mounties, where he remains today (April 9).
Immediately upon learning of the allegations on the evening of April 7, 2021, officers commenced a fast-moving investigation, which resulted in the arrest early yesterday morning,
says 100 Mile House Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Svend Nielsen in a release.
We have been closely engaged with the school administration and School District 27 who is supporting our investigation.
Nielsen adds police are hoping other individuals can come forward with more information out of concern for public safety, which is why Collins' name was released to the public.
Those wishing to share details or more information are encouraged to contact 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456 and cite file 2021-1154.
