Nut-chopper hazard sparks Canada-wide recall

This Prepworks Progressive Nut Chopper has been recalled by Health Canada due to a safety hazard

A hand-powered nutcracker has been recalled by Health Canada, due to a potential injury hazard.

According to the federal authority, the Progressive Nut Chopper’s plastic container can break, releasing sharp shards of plastic into the food receptacle.

Almost 3,000 of the affected product, sold by Lee Valley Tools, were distributed in Canada from December 2018 to October 2019.

The Prepworks by Progressive Nut Chopper in question has a model number GFNC-2 and has a red domed lid and hand-crank handle, stainless steel blades and a removable screw-base bottom reservoir.

Lee Valley has 20 stores across Canada, four of which are in B.C. – in Vancouver, Coquitlam, Victoria and Kelowna.

What to do if you have a Progressive Nut Chopper

Stop using the device immediately stop and return to the place of purchase for a full refund.

As of March 21, 2022, Lee Valley Tools has received six reports of incidences in Canada and no reports of injuries.

Do not contact Lee Valley Tools if the nut chopper was purchased at another retailer.
