Penticton residents may see a deer still in the festive spirit, running around with lights around its antlers.
Dean Butterfield has seen the decorated buck for a couple of months now, as it's been a regular visitor to his neighbourhood complex.
“This deer I believe has been born in our complex on Wilson Street a few years ago. I can't confirm though, but our neighbours believe so,” Butterfield said. He posted the picture to a Penticton Facebook page, concerned about the deer's state.
“[He] does not look injured, just pissed off with his new headdress.”
BC Conservation Officers remind residents to report in if they do see a deer sporting decorations, but unless it's preventing them from being going about their business, they generally won't interfere.
“That happens a lot at this time of year and generally….If it doesn't appear to be an imminent threat to the deer or people, they're left alone,” a conservation officer with the conservation service said, reminding residents to put away lights properly to help animals avoid getting tangled.
