Spend a summer afternoon under the trees of a world-class arboretum in Coquitlam.

Next Wednesday (Aug. 16), members of the Wondrous Tree Fellowship will lead a walk on the səmiq̓ʷəʔelə/Riverview Lands, the 244-acre provincial property off Lougheed Highway.

Hosted by the Riverview Horticultural Centre Society, the guided tour from 1 to 3 p.m. is free for the public and will offer education about the urban trees — many of which were planted more than a century ago on the unceded lands of the Kwikwetlem First Nation.

Attendees can meet at the upper site entrance of the Henry Esson Young building (park at the northwestern corner of the building).

Bring a water bottle and dress for the weather; the event will be held rain or shine. There are no bathrooms available during the tour.
