Voting is now underway to select a new leader for the B.C Liberal Party.
Registered membership were able to begin voting at 9 a.m. this morning. Voting is open until 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Voting is being done by phone and online.
The new leader is expected to be announced sometime Saturday evening.
Seven people are in the race to replace Andrew Wilkinson, who resigned after the party went down to defeat in the October 2020 provincial election.
Those seeking the leadership include Kelowna-Mission MLA Renee Merrifield, former cabinet minister Kevin Falcon, present MLAs Michael Lee and Ellis Ross, as well as Gavin Dew, Val Litwin and Stan Sipos.
Voting is being done on a ranked ballot, meaning each party member will rank their choice from one to seven.
Each of the province's 87 electoral districts will be allocated 100 points. A candidate must receive 4,350 points, plus one to be declared the winner.
If a winner is not declared on the first ballot, the candidate receiving the fewest number of votes will be dropped, and the second choice from that candidates ballots will be tabulated and added to the results. This will continue until a winner is declared.
