Vancouver School Board schools will reopen tomorrow.
As the heatwave's peak passes, the school district is reopening classrooms for the last school day of the year. Because of that, there are some modifications; basically, morning classes are going forward at school, but the afternoons are where the changes are.
For elementary school students, families are being encouraged to pick up children at noon, according to the school district's website.
"This is in consideration of school buildings getting hotter as the day progresses," they state on their website. "Supervision will be provided for any students who cannot be picked up by families at noon."
For secondary school students, afternoon classes will be done remotely, via Microsoft TEAMS.
"Each school will be sending a message to families with specific details for their school community," they state. "Families are asked to contact their child's school directly if they have any questions."
