Watch for #FieldDayFriday on Vancouver Is Awesome every Friday during the month of August, where I’ll be posting from someone else’s workplace pad.

Welcomed to The Hootsuite Nest by Stephanie Wiriahardja, #HigherEd Community Manager, I sidled up to my desk digs for the day: complete with nameplate, crown and owl to keep me company.

Lounging on one of the community corner's couches, meet Diana Luong, crafter, and Community Creative Coordinator.

Little did I know there was an afternoon Guac-Off in the works...

After a morning spent brainstorming brands doing cool activations in social media and talking about companies who have rad swag, Director of Community Destin Haynes and I headed out for some of Nuba's Najib's Special.

Armed with a full belly, Destin and I peeked in at all the amenities The Nest boasts for its employees: meeting space tents, private meeting rooms with names like "Burrowing" and "Spectacled" to satisfy the worker owls and communal kitchen picnic tables, beer AND wine on tap, foosball + table tennis, a gym, yoga studio and of course, "The Cabin" napping room to keep up social creativity. We topped off the tour with a naturally tree dotted view of downtown, the North Shore mountains, and stretching all the way east; the rooftop, it's perfect for perching.

Turns out, a workday at Hootsuite could not be complete without #beeroclock, especially when the very recently opened 33 Acres is located just across the street. We loaded up on ceramic growlers filled with 33 Acres brand new Sunshine French Blanche to share with the team back at the nest.

Hootsuite Community Manager Connor Meakin, 33 Acres Brewmaster Dustin Sepkowski, and Alyssa Kritsch of Hootsuite.

After getting a glimpse behind the curtain of what's coming up for Hootsuite (exciting stuff!), and an impromptu 1:1 with Director Of Marketing Cameron Uganec, I was invited to partake in the annual Guac-Off, where like it sounds, teams come up with creative guacamole recipes like "dessert guac."

Elaiza Datar, Community Program Coordinator and Guac-Off Contestant.

Lorien HensonKassia O'Connor, Kate Chalmers and Thera Martens, Guac-Off Contenders who won "most authentic" guac.

Thanks Hootsuite for all of the owl memories! Looking forward to future visits for Hootups, Guac-Offs and 4pm free-for-beer-alls!
