The Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club is now the GreenTee Country Club Westwood Plateau after a Dec. 23, 2024, purchase by JKWG.

The Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club in Coquitlam is now in new hands.

Last month, JK World Group (JKWG), which has its GreenTee golf shop and head office by IKEA in Coquitlam, bought the golf course and the executive golf course.

As a result, it has been rebranded as the GreenTee Country Club Westwood Plateau, adding to its golf course portfolio that also includes the GreenTee Country Club Langley (formerly Pagoda Ridge), spokesperson Patrick Pan said.

JKWG also has golf shops in Richmond, Vancouver, and Toronto, Ont., and it will expand this year with three more locations in Richmond, Oakridge and Yorkdale, Ont.

As well, it owns Jess’ Café in Kerrisdale and has a design and development division.

“Our vision is to create exceptional golfing environments and our mission is to deliver world-class golf facilities paired with unparalleled service,” Pan, the marketing director, told the Tri-City News on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

“The acquisition of Westwood Plateau Golf Course is a strategic decision that perfectly aligns with these goals.”

Pan said JKWG plans to keep the current staff, as well as sink dollars into the Coquitlam golf courses’ infrastructure, service quality and “overall golf experience.”

Among the golf course updates are:

  • renaming courses
    • Westwood Plateau Sky & Westwood Plateau Fine
      • with enhanced bunkers, upgraded tee boxes, fairways, greens and hole cups
  • introducing a bag drop service
  • operating tee rounds from 6 a.m. to midnight
  • installing a car wash service
  • launching a GreenTee Golf Shop
  • starting new golf technician courses
  • offering tailor programs at the academy for juniors and adults
  • rebranding Fairways Grill and Patio to Jess’ Fine, and the Apres Bar and Kitchen to Jess’ Sky

A member of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce, JKWG is investing in Coquitlam because of its economic growth and location within Metro Vancouver, Pan said.

And it will continue to make community contributions; past recipients include KidSport Tri-Cities, SDC Organization, BC Women's Health Foundation, Canuck Place, Ronald McDonald House and the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Moving forward, we plan to enhance these efforts with more partnerships, local initiatives and programs that benefit underprivileged families, youth sports and healthcare in the region. Giving back is a core value of our company and we are excited to continue building stronger community connections at Plateau Golf Course,” Pan said.
