Last week I brought you THE NEWS that we're on board as the presenter of the third round of Vancity's Good Money Mob! We've nominated local businesses The Soap Dispensary, Salmon N Bannock and Dandelion Kids and it's up to you to now vote your favourite one into being the one that's ultimately chosen to be mobbed.
Today we're going to take a close look at my favourite kids store on the Drive: Dandelion Kids at 1026 Commercial!
They opened their doors in 2004 and opened another location in Port Moody in 2009. In my eyes they're the perfect kids store as they're independent yet they still stock so many fantastic products.
My wife and I have bought a great deal of stuff here for our son Arlo since his birth almost four years ago, in fact it was pretty trippy to go into the store to shoot these photos and be reminded of it all. We bought this Strider bike pictured below for his 2nd birthday, but in orange. He still rides it.
He's got a few of these books.
The store has a lot of clothing for girls and for boys.
Here are a couple of favourite tees that I saw yesterday.
And these kicks! Kamik boots and Vans Half Cabs.
This drumkit has always been a favourite.
And they stock a lot of cool wooden stuff, like these food items.
Look up and you'll see many mobiles hanging from the ceiling, and cool paper pieces of art that you can buy and put together. Like this owl.
This is the back half of the store.
And the front doorway and their community board that is always chock full.
Bottom line: OUR FAMILY LOVES DANDELION KIDS. If you've got kids, or kids that you buy stuff for (I'm talking to YOU aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends!) you should check them out next time you're on the Drive.
Voting is NOW OPEN on Vancity’s Facebook page. Click "Like" on the badge representing the company you would like to support and that will ultimately get mobbed — in the best way possible. Voting runs until October 24th, 2012.
