The Vancouver Canucks will have six representatives at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.
Quinn Hughes was the first Canuck named to the All-Star Game, then it became clear that he would be joined by head coach Rick Tocchet because the Canucks are first in the Pacific Division.
On Saturday, when the NHL released the results of the All-Star fan voting, four more Canucks were named to the roster: Brock Boeser, J.T. Miller, Thatcher Demko, and Elias Pettersson.
It's a stunning result, as just 12 roster spots were available in the fan vote but Canucks fans showed up in droves to vote in their favourite players.
Thatcher Demko received the most votes of any player, finishing just ahead of William Nylander of the host Toronto Maple Leafs. Elias Pettersson finished third among the eight skaters with 976,716 votes, J.T. Miller finished sixth, while Brock Boeser snuck in as the eighth skater.
The NHL also announced which players would compete in the All-Star Skills Competition. It's a different format this year, with just 12 players participating in a decathlon-like competition where they will be tested on a variety of skills.
Two of the participants will be decided by yet another fan vote, but the first ten participants were announced, including the Canucks' Elias Pettersson.
Pettersson might actually be the favourite to win the million-dollar prize considering he won the Hardest Shot competition last year, has competed in the Fastest Skater competition before, and shouldn't have any issue with the passing, one-timer, stick-handling, or accuracy-shooting contests either.
