Taylor Swift is coming to Vancouver in December, adding three dates to her Eras Tour on Thursday morning.
This is major news for Vancouver Swifties, as they otherwise would have needed to travel to Toronto to see Swift in Canada.
It wouldn't be surprising to see a couple of members of the Vancouver Canucks at one of her three shows at BC Place. After all, they're young and have more disposable income than most Vancouver residents.
But which Canuck is most likely to register for the Verified Fan Sale and be desperately hoping to get access to buy a ticket so he doesn't have to potentially spend thousands of dollars on the secondary market?
Jack Studnicka, of course.
The winger revealed his Swift fandom in a TikTok the Canucks posted just before the start of the season.
The Canucks players were asked who they would rather meet: Travis Kelce or Taylor Swift.
Many of the Canucks chose to meet the elite athlete, which is understandable. That would be a great opportunity to trade notes on training and the mentality of playing sports at the highest level. But a few Canucks chose Swift.
Dakota Joshua and Nils Höglander both said they would rather meet Swift than Kelce, with Höglander getting adorably bashful when Phil Di Giuseppe pressed him on where he would take her on a date. An off-camera Canuck quipping that he could take her "Out of the Woods," in reference to one of her many hits from the album 1989.
It's Studnicka, however, who shows that he's the most diehard Taylor Swift fan on the Canucks. He says he would rather meet Swift, "obviously."
"She's everything," says Studnicka with utter sincerity. "She's a rockstar, a popstar...we'd get in a getaway car and that's about it."
Dropping a reference to "Getaway Car," a song from Reputation that was released as a single but never charted and never had a music video, shows that Studnicka definitely knows what he's talking about. That's not a casual Swift reference like "Shake It Off," "Bad Blood," or "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" would have been.
When Di Giuseppe clearly doesn't get the reference, Studnicka reacts with comical disdain.
"You don't know Taylor Swift like that?" he asks. "Come on now, do your research."
Yeah, Studnicka is definitely going to one of those three Swift shows in Vancouver. Maybe he can take Höglander with him.
He'll just have to hope that the Canucks aren't on a road trip in early December in 2024.
