A bubble tea shop in Surrey has closed its doors for two weeks after one of its employees tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to Xing Fu Tang, the affected staffer last worked Nov. 7 and 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 10153 King George Blvd. – one of several Metro Vancouver locations of the Taiwanese chain.
The individual is now at home under quarantine, the company assured in a statement.
Results for the staffer's COVID-19 test came back positive late Tuesday evening, the company disclosed.
Upon learning the news, Xing Fu Tang closed the store inside of the Central City Shopping Centre.
"In the most unfortunate circumstances, Xing Fu Tang Canada is announcing our first-ever confirmed coronavirus positive case from one of our store team members,” it said.
The location is not listed by the Fraser Health Authority as public COVID-19 exposure.
The store will reportedly remain closed for the next 14 days to undergo "a deep cleaning," the company added.
It is slated to reopen on Nov. 25.
