COVID-19 exposures and testing
Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health have not included the McDonald's update on their lists of recent public exposures for the virus.
In general, a COVID-19 test is recommended if you have any one of the symptoms of the virus. Use the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool to help determine if you need to be tested for COVID-19. You can complete this assessment for yourself, or on behalf of someone else, if they are unable to.
If you feel unwell and are unsure about your symptoms, contact your health care provider or call 8-1-1.
You can get a COVID-19 test from a physician, nurse practitioner, urgent and primary care centre or at a COVID-19 test collection centre. You can call 8-1-1 to find testing near you. Please visit an emergency department if you are experiencing health conditions that require urgent and emergency care.
COVID-19 is spread by respiratory droplets when a person who is sick coughs or sneezes. It can also be spread when a healthy person touches an object or surface (e.g. a doorknob or a table) with the virus on it, and then touches their mouth, nose or eyes before washing their hands. Most people who get COVID-19 have only mild disease, but a few people can get very sick and may need to go to hospital. The symptoms of COVID-19 may include fatigue, loss of appetite, fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, loss of smell and/or diarrhea.
