Several more employees at Loblaw-owned grocery stores in Metro Vancouver have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of retail chains Real Canadian Superstore and No Frills provided updates to its COVID-19 employee case listings on Feb. 16.
The following stores have newly-reported staff COVID-19 cases at Loblaw-owned stores in Metro Vancouver:
- Real Canadian Superstore, 3185 Grandview Highway, Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on February 12.
- Shipley's No Frills, Maple Ridge, 22427 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Maple Ridge: The last day the team member worked was on February 8.
- Real Canadian Superstore, 19851 Willowbrook Drive, Langley: The last day each of the two team members worked was on February 4 and February 6.
None of the stores are considered public exposure locations by Vancouver Coastal Health or Fraser Health.
Additionally, Loblaw is reporting employee coronavirus cases for staff at Real Canadian Superstore locations in Duncan in the Island Health authority region and in West Kamloops in the Interior Health authority region.
Loblaw says they share updates about test-positive COVID cases in their stores in order to maintain transparency.
"In these cases, we work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores," notes the company.
When there are employee virus cases, Loblaw notes: “Generally, the risk to our customers remains low, due to the physical distancing and sanitization measures that have been in place in our stores for months."
Loblaw-owned T & T Supermarket posts employee case updates on its website, however, the company has not had a case to report in British Columbia in the last 14 days.
Sobeys Inc, which operates stores like Safeway and Thrifty Foods, updated its B.C. coronavirus employee case tracker this week to include a confirmed case at the Safeway in Dawson Creek, however, the company has not reported any cases for stores in the Lower Mainland since Feb. 9.
