Another Vancouver eatery is closing its doors for the time being after staff and customers were potentially exposed to COVID-19 this week.
Tap and Barrel took to Instagram Friday afternoon to announce that a member of its Olympic Village team has tested positive for the virus. "As a result, and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to voluntarily close while Vancouver Coastal Health conducts contact tracing," the restaurant's post read.
The local chain, which also boasts two other waterfront locations at the Vancouver Convention Centre and the shipyards in North Vancouver, confirmed that the individual worked solely at Tap and Barrel's 75 Athletes Way location. The staff member was in the restaurant on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the post added.
"As per our health and safety protocols, daily temperature checks were performed, personal protective equipment was worn at all times, and proper handwashing and surface sanitization took place frequently," it continued.
"We appreciate your trust and patience and will provide an update on the situation as information becomes available."
Tap and Barrel is encouraging any guests with concerns to contact VCH directly or email the restaurant at [email protected]
News of the Tap and Barrel location's temporary closure comes less than a day after another popular Vancouver spot to grab a craft beer, Brewhall, announced it's closing its doors after a guest may have exposed others to COVID-19 during a visit to that establishment on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Neither Tap and Barrel or Brewhall are currently included on Vancouver Coastal Health's public exposures list.
