One of the best parts of the Christmas season is driving or walking or cycling around Burnaby and checking out people’s Christmas lights.
One of my favourites is the display set up each year by Tina and Herb Sherwood. It’s not the easiest home to decorate because it’s on a slope, as you can see by the photo.
It’s that labour that has led the Sherwoods to announce this will be the last year.
“With sadness in my heart we announce that this will be our last Christmas lights display,” wrote Tina. “My husband spends most of November outside and if you notice our yard is not easy to decorate, odd angles, slopes and flower beds everywhere.”
It’s sad news, but understandable. It’s a lot of work, so check it out until Jan. 5 at 5951 Baffin Place, just off Oakland Street near Royal Oak Avenue.
