West of Main just got a little bit bigger.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the annual art walk will stretch west to east from Point Grey to Main Street and south to north from Granville Island to 41st Avenue.
More than 50 artists will have their work on display in garden studios, cafés, shops and community centres on May 27 and 28. Many of the artists will also be on hand to talk about their work.
The art walk “offers an opportunity to form meaningful connections with individuals who enliven and enrich our community,” says Judy Osburn, president of Artists in Our Midst, which hosts the event. “It’s an invaluable chance to discover the stories behind the art, and celebrate visual art’s capacity to transform people.”
The first Artists in Our Midst studio tour was in 1993 after painter Pnina Granirer was inspired by the Génie de la Bastille in Paris and shared the idea with fellow artist Anne Adams.
Artists work in a variety of fields including paintings, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and photography.
The locations are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 27 and 28. You can find a map here.
