Victoria International Airport will be a little busier this year with Air Canada announcing it will add flights this summer between Victoria and Edmonton.
The announcement came as Air Canada unveiled new domestic regional non-stop flights that will start July 2. The twice-a-day seasonal flight from Victoria to Edmonton leaves at 10:10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and arrives in Edmonton at 12:55 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.
Flights to Victoria from Edmonton will leave at 8:40 a.m. and 4 p.m. and arrive in Victoria at 9:40 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Air Canada will also add seasonal service between Comox and Calgary. Flights will leave Comox daily at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in Calgary at 2:14 p.m.; they leave Calgary at 10:05 a.m. and arrive at Comox at 10:58 a.m.
“With the continued growth at several communities on Vancouver Island and in the Okanagan, we see the opportunity to add new non-stop services and provide additional convenient travel options,” said Benjamin Smith, president of passenger airlines at Air Canada.
The non-stop flights will be on Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
WestJet announce earlier that it is adding flights between Vancouver and Victoria, Calgary and Nanaimo, and Calgary and Victoria.
There will also be additional flights between Toronto and Victoria.
