Vancouver residents who want to own a luxury supercar while wearing the badge of eco-awareness can now kick the tires of a Karma Revero.
OpenRoad Auto Group is one of three dealerships in Canada selling the custom-built hybrid electric cars.
Karma Vancouver is at 1717 W. Fifth Ave. at Burrard Street, with a 2018 Karma Revero parked in the show room.
OpenRoad is also bringing the car to the Vancouver International Auto Show from Mar. 28 to Apr.1.
The Los Angeles Times did a test drive of the car last May. It said each car is “a bespoke-seeming, handmade custom creation” with paint names such as Pacific Fog and Balboa Blue. However, its zero to 100 km/h rate is 5.4 seconds, compared to 2.4 seconds for some Teslas or 3.7 seconds for a Porsche 911 Carrera S. Its speed is also electronically maxed out at 200 km/h.
Avid car collector Jay Leno told the Times that the Grand Tourer sedan reminded him of a Volt in a tuxedo.
“This is a GT,” Joost de Vries, Karma’s vice-president of sales and service said in the article. “It’s not a McLaren. It’s not trying to be. It’s a touring car.”
The Karma Revero is a descendent of the Fisker Karma. Fisker, with all its assets and designs, was bought by the China-based Wanxiang Group in 2014. The cars are manufactured in Moreno Valley, California. The base price is $149,000.
