Metrotown has the good shops, but we hate how we get stuck there for hours, looping round the (probably) Escher-designed escalators. So thank goodness Muji’s second branch will be opening on Robson Street, where we can’t possibly get lost.

Taking the spot vacated by Gap, the 14,000 sq ft space will have all the fashion and lifestyle goodies we now expect from the Japanese brand, plus some cool novelties.

There’s the Labo collection of experimental products brought in to test the market and limited to only a few stores around the world. There’s the customization service, where you can print labels for stationery, furniture and other items. And because there just aren’t enough ethical coffee spots in Vancouver, there’s the Coffee Counter, a partnership with Ethical Bean Coffee, where you can get a simple, affordable, organic brew for yourself, or deposit your shopped-out partner while you browse.
