TWG Tea, a luxury international tea brand with 56 locations in 17 cities around the world, is opening its first North American location this fall in Vancouver, in the former downtown Urban Tea Merchant location (1070 West Georgia). Provence Mediterranean Grill owners Alessandra and Jean-Francis Quaglia have announced that their original restaurant, affectionately dubbed “P1,” will close after brunch service on Nov. 27, after a 19-year run. The couple agreed to sell the restaurant to former employee Raj Aujay, who will open a new concept in the space. The Quaglias will continue to run Provence Marinaside and TWB The Wine Bar in Yaletown.

 

On Friday, Oct. 21, a loonie from the sale of every combo sold at Triple O’s locations will be donated to KidSport BC, a community-based funding program that helps underprivileged children participate in sports.

 

On Monday, Oct. 24, Latab hosts its latest CoLab evening, this time focusing on mushrooms and featuring guest chef Juno Kim, bartender Satoshi Yonemori (Grapes and Soda), Camille Flanjak (Museum Eats), and Latab executive chef Kris Barnholden. The dinner includes six courses and sparkling wine, with optional cocktail pairings. Tickets $85 per person, available through Eventbrite.ca.

 

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Burdock & Co. and Campagnolo present Fish Fight, a collaborative ocean-forward dinner celebrating the best of BC’s waters. Each course will be paired with naturalist wines chosen by Burdock sommelier Jesse Walters. Tickets $80 (optional wine pairings $45) from Eventbrite.ca or by calling 604-879-0077.

 

On Sunday, Oct. 30, La Pentola holds the next edition of its Famiglia Supper Series. This special All Hallows’ Eve dinner features offal in various forms, including duck heart salad, pig trotter stuffed with rabbit mortadella, rabbit liver pâté, and grilled skirt steak with seared foie gras. On Thursday, Nov. 10, Forage hosts the first in a series of Watershed Dinners with Covert Farms Family Estate, to raise awareness of BC’s watersheds and their importance to sustainable farming. On Wednesday, Nov. 16, Vancouver Aquarium’s annual Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown returns, with 14 chefs competing for the title of best chowder – all in support of sustainable seafood. Sample unique chowders from chefs Jefferson Alvarez (Northern Divine Caviar), Chris Andraza (Fanny Bay Oyster Bar), Jason Sokulski (Feast), Tia Litz (Pajo’s), John McManus (Vancouver Fish Company), Ned Bell (Vancouver Aquarium) and many others.
