Cassidy Kannemeyer’s playbook featured a new addition Friday night that had little to do with screens, picks or zones.
Instead, the Capilano University men’s basketball coach added a new play to his arsenal: a mid-game marriage proposal to Mount Pleasant NDP MLA Melanie Mark.
Video from Friday shows the coach get down on one knee during a stoppage in play to lob the big question.

Mark accepted, and of course, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” then came over the P.A.
A photo of the game-changing moment on Mark’s Twitter page is accompanied by the caption, “On the court and I said yes! I Love you Cassidy Kannemeyer.”

Congratulatory praise came from all corners of the interwebs, including from Premier John Horgan, fellow MLAs and well-wishers alike.
Capilano would go on to lose Friday’s contest 96-73 to Nanaimo’s Vancouver Island University.
