Grandview Highway is expected to remain closed until about 4 p.m. Friday following a serious early morning crash.

Two people suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision, which happened just before 6 a.m. on Grandview Highway near Penticton Street.

Police say it appears a grey Ford Focus and a black Mercedes SUV collided head-on just over the centre line of the four-lane road. Three occupants of the Ford and four from the Mercedes were taken to hospital with a variety of injuries.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Ford and his 19-year-old female passenger have life-threatening injuries. The other passenger has serious, but not believed to be life-threatening injuries. All three are from Burnaby.

The 54-year-old Richmond man driving the Mercedes and his three passengers aged 48, 59 and 70, all suffered relatively minor injuries.

Police are looking for witnesses. Anyone who may have seen what happened is asked to call investigators at 604-717-3012.
