Tika, an albino Saw-whet owl, was born without eyes and thankfully found herself in the care of the good folks at O.W.L.. If you’re not familiar, the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society is a non-profit that rescues, rehabilitates and releases injured and orphaned raptors – a.k.a. owls, eagles, hawks and falcons. The organization has 48 non-releasable birds that they call “permanent residents” at their facility, and some of them are brought to events (like the one coming up) and schools to help educate the public.

On Oct. 21 O.W.L. is holding its second annual Raptor Rendezvous fundraiser at the Quilchena Golf and Country Club. There’ll be a cocktail hour with a meet-n-greet (where you can hang out with Tika and other rescued raptors), a gala dinner and auction with items from the likes of Cypress Mountain, Westjet, and S.P.U.D.
