Glacier Media is building on its talent pool in a wave of new appointments and hires.
“It is truly an exciting time to be working at Glacier Media,” says Alvin Brouwer, the president of Lower Mainland Publishing LP and Glacier Community Media Digital.
LMP publications include the Vancouver Courier, Vancouver Is Awesome, North Shore News, Burnaby Now, New Westminster Record, TriCity News, Richmond News, Delta Optimist and the Bowen Island Undercurrent.
Effective Aug. 1, Michelle Bhatti is the Courier’s new publisher. Formerly the newspaper’s director of marketing, she has taken on increasingly progressive roles since joining Glacier Media from Black Press “and has excelled each step along the way,” Brouwer says. “Michelle will take the Courier to the next level.”
Katie Mercer is adding the title of vice-president content for the company’s new Local News Network, reflecting the important role she’s played in developing new opportunities for digital reporting and marketing. “She is a true digital native,” Brouwer says.
Mercer will continue to serve as director of social media for Glacier Media.
Ariel Evans has been promoted to the position of director of sales/major accounts. “Ariel has been instrumental in helping us to grow our digital influence over the past number of years,” Brouwer says. “Ariel has deep digital product knowledge and customer sales strategy.”
Also helping to launch new markets is Doug McKellar, the new vice-president of sales for the Local News Network. “Doug most recently was a senior sales leader at YP and brings significant experience and success to our team,” Brouwer says.
Building on the growth of Glacier Media’s ever-expanding digital reach is Kevin Tran, who has been appointed to the newly created position of director of digital sales, Vancouver. He most recently was director of sales at YP for Ontario and the Maritimes.
Martha Perkins is the editor-in-chief of the Vancouver Courier, one of Glacier Media's newspapers in the Lower Mainland.
