POWER, ENERGY MEET FUN

Belly dancing, local band Brasstronaut and talk of power and energy in B.C. are all part of an event called Power and Energy: Connecting the Dots, Dec.

Belly dancing, local band Brasstronaut and talk of power and energy in B.C. are all part of an event called Power and Energy: Connecting the Dots, Dec. 11, that's produced by Gen Why Media, in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and Leadnow.ca. Speakers will discuss "B.C.'s current position at an 'energy crossroads' with natural gas fracking, pipelines and tankers on one hand, and the possibility of green jobs, a health environment and reduced social inequality on the other." The event is part of Gen Why's ongoing intergenerational dialogue series, Bring Your Boomers, which combines "intelligent conversation" with music, film, visual art, storytelling and dance. A performance by Lu-citerra Fusion Belly Dance quartet will open the event that runs at The Rio Theatre, 1660 East Broadway at Commercial Drive. Doors are at 6: 30 p.m. with the opening performance at 7. For more information, see gen-whymedia.ca/bringyourboomers.
