Vancouver police are trying to determine how a stolen truck ended up in the water off Kits Beach.
Just after 12:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called after a passerby noticed tire marks in the sand leading into the water off Kits Beach in the area of the basketball courts. Officers were able to determine that the truck was unoccupied and had been reported stolen early Thursday morning.
Police are working with Vancouver Park Board and the Coast Guard to ensure the safe removal of the truck while minimizing any impact on the environment.
Anyone who may have information about the stolen vehicles, or how it got into the water, is asked to call police at 604-717-3321, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
