The Vancouver Sun Run takes place this weekend on Sunday, April 14 and a number of streets will be closed off during the morning.
The race begins at Georgia and Burrard and organizers are expecting up to 40,000 participants. While the race doesn’t begin until 9 a.m., road closures will be in effect from 5 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
TransLink has also stated that they will add extra service to their regular schedule to ensure that participants are able to get to the race on time.
The Expo and Millennium Line trains will run half an hour earlier, with first trains leaving between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m. Furthermore, service will be running more frequently until 2 pm.
The Seabus will run an hour earlier, with the first vessel leaving Lonsdale Quay at 7 am. There will be sailings every 15 minutes following that until 9 pm.
The Canada Line, however, will be unaffected by the run. Trains will begin at 4:48 a.m. as usual, with more frequent service beginning at 7 a.m.
There are also 18 bus routes that are on or around the Sun Run route that will be detoured from the start of service until 2 p.m. You can check the Trip Planner for more details regarding your route.
