Welcome to the Boomer Beat. While searching online for images that best depict the Baby Boomer lifestyle, I checked out hundreds of photographs.
By the time I was done I came to the conclusion the media has decided a typical Baby Boomer drinks red wine while doing yoga on a bike at the beach, or on a mountain, with a 1966 Volkswagen van parked somewhere nearby — with an Apple iPad perched on its front seat. And as shown in these photos, many of them surfed while others skied.
The majority of these fictional boomers appear to be enjoying Freedom 55, something I have yet to witness amongst the majority of my Canadian Baby Boomer friends or family who now have plans to work until at least age 67.
These photogenic boomers were also either really well dressed or clad head to toe in tie-dye, perhaps reliving the heyday of the Woodstock era.
The goal of this blog is to celebrate Vancouver boomers of every economic demographic and description with tips, stories, news and events about travel, food and fun.
I’m also anxious to hear from readers, so please email me with your Baby Boomer-related ideas — and photos.
