The rain held off for most of the day until the clouds opened over John Hendry Park and soaked the already muddy and trampled race course.
Not that a little weather could hold back these elementary school runners as 3,184 children competed in the 26th annual district cross-country meet around Trout Lake Oct. 20.

The largest races were the two Grade 4 classes with 344 boys and 304 girls. A total of 1,698 girls ran and 1,486 boys.
