In an incredible feat of school dominance, three girls basketball teams at Lord Byng -- the bantam, juvenile and junior Grey Ghosts -- went undefeated through in city league action.

The the bantam team drawn from the youngest girls in Grade 8 were 8-0 and defeated Point Grey 47-18 at John Oliver secondary for the city banner. The juvenile girls were 4-0 through the season and won the city title over the Churchill Bulldogs. At the next level, the junior girls, which includes players in Grades 9 and 10, also went undefeated, leading the top Tier I league with seven wins and no losses. They took the city championship at home over the Churchill Bulldogs.

At the senior level, Lord Byng competed in the Tier II division and went an even 4-4, meaning the program could see a tonne of growth in coming years.

There is no official provincial championship for juvenile and bantam teams, but there is the possiblity of invitational tournaments.

Lord Byng is ranked ninth headed into the 16-team junior girls B.C. Championships, held March 2 to 5 at the Langle Events Centre.

On the boys side, the Grey Ghosts made a run for the AAA senior city title, but ultimately finished third and still qualified for the Lower Mainaland tournament, which continues tonight at the Richmond Oval. Already in the final four of the regional tourney, Lord Byng has punched its ticket to the Big Dance next month in Langley.

Lord Byng and Richmond's McNair secondary play today in the third-place game at 2:45 p.m.

Steveston-London secondary and St. Thomas More play in the title game at 6:15 p.m.

Vancouver teams the Windermere Warriors, Gladstone Gladiators, Tupper Tigers and John Oliver Jokers were all eliminated.

The senior boys AAA B.C. Championship runs March 9 to 12 at the Langle Events Centre.
