Ranked No. 1 and No. 3 headed into the AAAA regional qualifier for the storied, senior boys basketball provincial championship, the Churchill Bulldogs and Kitsilano Blue Demons met only two weeks ago in the city championship final. Churchill won, as they have in the vast majority of meetings with Kits in the past three years. Will they continue the run tonight?

The Lower Mainland championship final tips off tonight at 8 p.m. at the Richmond Oval. The third-place game at 4:30 p.m. between Burnaby South and St. George's is the real contest since only the top three teams advance to B.C.'s. Churchill and Kitsilano move on while the season will be over one of the other two.

Vancouver schools eliminated so far include No. 4 Killarney, No. 5 Vancouver College, No. 7 David Thompson and No. 11 Eric Hamber. (Rankins are for the regional tournament.)

On Feb. 24 to reach the regional final, Kitsilano narrowly defeated neighbourhood rival St. George's 69-67, and the Saints bounced back the next night to knock off private school neighbrouhood rival Vancouver College 72-64 to reach tonight's third-place play-off.

Churchill reached the final by beating Killarney 97-62. Killarney lost a very close game to Burnaby South, falling 65-63 in an attempt to play for third place.
