Nobody has a better barometer for the end of summer than skateboarders. Not just because we’re constantly checking the weather forecast, but our creaky knees are often the first to let us know that rain is just around the corner. Sadly, my knees are letting me know today that summer skating in Vancouver is almost a memory. But we’re not quite there yet and there are couple more amazing skate events coming to town, capping off what has already been an eventful month.
ALL DAY I DREAM ABOUT SKATING

Today, the adidas skateboard team rolls in to town for a demo at The Downtown Skateboard Plaza at 7pm. Come down and join Benny Fairfax, Dennis Busenitz, Jake Donnelly, Lem Villemin, Nestor Judkins, Pete Eldridge, Silas Baxter Neal, Kevin Lowry, and Vince Del Valle for a sesh/demo as they kick off their 3 Stripes Tour that will also see stops in Seattle and Portland. They will also be doing some signings on-site and the whole thing is sponsored by Underworld Skateshop

Following the demo, skate with the guys over to the London Pub (just around the corner at 700 Main St.) where Jamcouver and Color Magazine's standing weekly party Turntup Tuesday, will be hosting the 3 Stripes Afterparty with the team in attendance, plus $2 beers, free adidas swag, and skate videos on all the tvs. This week we’ve got a special premiere of "11'th Hour" featuring skating from Kevin Lowry. Oh ya, and as always, no cover.
HAPPY RICK HOWARD DAY!

The following day, join the Girl team for Mounted Cops/Two Stops: a legendary demo at Chuck Bailey skatepark in Surrey from 1-3pm followed by a signing back in Vancouver at the Boardroom at 6pm. Do Not Miss This!
BATLLE AT HASTINGS

Rounding out the weekend, this year’s Battle of Hastings contest brought to you by East Van's BLVD Skateshop is said to be bigger and badder than ever! With a $15,000 purse and a newly minted World Cup Skateboarding status, the event is certain to live up to its current position as biggest cash prize event in Western Canada. Oh ya, and word has it that the Girl team will be making an appearance here as well. Did someone say Raven Tershy in the Mother Hastings Bowl??!!!
