Former Barenaked Ladies' frontman Steven Page will be taking to the street this June.
In advance of the BC Lions' home opener, Page will be performing as part of the team's Backyard Block Party. The event will be filling Robson Street out front of BC Place on June 11 in the hours leading up to the game against the Edmonton Elks.
"Open to fans 19 and over, the Backyard Block Party will also feature food, Central City beer and plenty of tailgate activities to get fans amped up for a great night of football and entertainment before the squad battles the Edmonton Elks to begin their 68th regular season," the Lions say in a press release.
Page had a string of hits with the Barenaked Ladies. In 2009 he left the band to pursue a solo career, which has seen him work with a variety of musicians, from Duran Duran's Stephen Duffy to Chris Murphy of Sloan.
The party gets underway at 2 p.m. with Page taking the stage at 5 p.m.
The pregame activities will continue inside with a show by One Republic at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the game are on sale now.
