Do you love those J-I-N-G-L-E bells? Is it beginning to look a lot like Christmas already at your house? If listening to holiday tunes is your jam, then this is some news to stand up and cheer for: Vancouver radio station 104.3 The Breeze is now playing 24/7 Christmas music.
The Breeze flipped the switch Thursday morning, the day after Remembrance Day, getting the holiday spirit going a little earlier than usual this year.
"The holiday season can be so hectic. Kick back and relax with your favourite yuletide songs all season long," says the radio station.
What can you expect to hear? The Breeze promises "Vancouver Christmas Favourites," and yours is sure to be among them. (Well, maybe not all your favourites.)
Not surprisingly, the holiday song that tops the charts of most-played year after year the last decade remains Mariah Carey's sing-along worthy "All I Want for Christmas is You." That epic festive hit is followed by Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," and Bobby Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock," according to the Billboard charts.
Of course, this is Vancouver radio, so be prepared for some Christmas Can-Con, including from locals, like the king of holiday crooning Michael Bublé and our very own herald angel Sarah McLachlan, among others.
With people spending more time at home due to travel restrictions and safety measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the Christmas spirit might come on a little harder and faster this year, with more folks inclined to turn these tough days more merry and bright.
