Don't ask why watching a film in the open air is so much more of an event than watching one on your couch. Just get out your lawn chairs and accept it as a fundamental truth.
The Evo Summer Cinema series is returning to Stanley Park this July through August and showing an eclectic line-up of movies every Tuesday night, starting with Lion King on July 5.
Zoolander, Top Gun, Jurassic Park, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Dirty Dancing, and Grease will also be showing over the course of the summer but there is one night (August 2) that is unaccounted for and EVO wants us to vote for the movie we would most like to see.
The options are Spice World, Bohemian Rhapsody, or Rocketman. Do you think they had music on the mind when they selected these options?
The showings will take place at Ceperley Meadow by Second Beach in between the water and Stanley Park Drive. Just look for the giant screen.
The show is free to attend if you sit on the lawn which will be divided down the middle into a side for lawn chairs and a side for blankets. There is also a VIP seating area down at the front for people who want to purchase tickets ($28.64) to secure the best view.
Food trucks will be onsite and there are two concession stands for snacks but people are also allowed to bring their own coolers. No alcohol or smoking of any kind is permitted though.
