A free block party will take over Vancouver for one day this summer.
Bentall Centre’s Neighbourhood Patio and pop-up art gallery will host Public Disco’s Block Party on July 22.
The free event is organized by Public Disco, a project that looks to reimagine unique urban spaces as outdoor event spaces, bringing people together through music and dancing.
Nickolas Collinet, the director of Public Disco, said in a press release that their mission is to highlight the fun side of Vancouver that exists in the city’s alternative music ecosystem but struggles to make its way out of the underground.
“We want to create spaces where you don't have to be ‘in the know’ to attend, you just have to read about it here or walk by the event happening just steps from Burrard SkyTrain Station,” said Collinet.
The block party will have an all-ages atmosphere, feel-good dance music, food vendors, pop-up market and licensed bars.
As for the music lineup, the event will have a number of local artists such as ESB, DJ Hector, Kozue, and Star x Dust.
“We curate our events to highlight artists and bring together audiences from different parts of the local music landscape,” said Collinet.
While the event is a good opportunity to dance and have a good time, it is also a great pre-party before watching the Celebration of Light fireworks taking place that same evening.
