The Downtown B.I.A. is hosting dog therapy next week (May 4).

The Downtown Vancouver B.I.A. wants to leave you feeling paws-ative after your lunch hour next Thursday (May 4) by offering free canine therapy sessions.

Cuddles with friendly dogs have been known to reduce stress and anxiety and improve mood. And in some cases, even lower blood pressure and decrease the perception of pain.

To coincide with Mental Health Week (May 1 - 7), the B.I.A. wants to offer people who may be feeling stressed or overwhelmed the opportunity to relax with some pups.

Complimentary hot chocolate from Mink Chocolates Cafe will be available along with musical entertainment from Canadian Idol star and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Lecky, and people can learn how to felt their very own little furry friend courtesy of the bicycle-powered arts and crafts station MakeMobile.

Those with their own pups at home can pick up dog treats and accessories from the vendors that will also be on-site.

The event is from noon until 2 p.m. and is open to the first 150 attendees.
