Hard to believe, but it’s time to think about one of Vancouver’s favourite things already: Free ice skating in the heart of downtown at Robson Square.
The wintery fun is right around the corner, with a start date set for December 1, 2019. The rink will be open for free ice skating for all ages and abilities until February 29, 2020 - and they're open on holidays, too.
While there is no cost to get on the rink, if you don't have your own skates to lace up, there are cash-only rentals for $5 a pair. Skate rentals close 30 minutes prior to rink closing time.
This season, the Robson Square skating rink will be open Sunday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Holiday hours are as follows:
Christmas Eve - Dec. 24, 2019: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Christmas Day Dec. 25, 2019: Noon to 5 p.m.
Boxing Day - Dec. 26: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
New Year’s Eve - Dec. 31, 2019): 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
New Year’s Day - Jan.1, 2020: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Heads up, skaters: Warm weather means warm ice, so the rink may need to close at times due to conditions. Check the Robson Square website or call their hotline at 604-646-3554 for closure information.
