For a sun salutation experience that's truly om-maaaaaaaa-zing, Goat Yoga could definitely be your thing.
This is not where you watch goats attempt to fold their limbs into child's pose, but rather where you do your yoga class with goats hanging around. (Yes, it's a thing.)
The classes have been so popular that the organizer, Bamboo Clothing, has added additional dates, with one-hour sessions scheduled every Saturday and Sunday through the end of November.
These 9 am yoga classes take place outdoors at Maplewood Farm in North Vancouver, and are taught by local yogi Kelli Sroka.
Weather-permitting (i.e. no rain), the Goat Yoga classes go down-ward dog on a grassy paddock, and it's BYO yoga mat. You'll want to dress appropriately but bear in mind you're likely to get dirty.
"The goats don't smell bad at all and they love to rub their heads on everything!" says the organizer.
Goat Yoga is designed to be a very social event. Not only are the goats there to socialize, but participants are also encouraged to meet and mingle their fellow animal-loving yogis.
In fact, attendees need to get there 15-20 minutes ahead of the class to learn the rules for goat socializing (but be sure not to pack food with you, that's a no-no). Goat selfies are strongly encouraged, though they also have Goat Yoga swag (t-shirts) available too.
Goat Yoga classes are scheduled for 9 am on October 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, and 29. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for kids (the human kind) ages 8 to 18; purchase online.
