A free celebration of Israeli culture is coming to Vancouver next month.
The Festival of Israeli Culture is a one-day event filled with music, dance, art, sports, food, and, for adults only, wine tasting and cocktails. It will take place May 14 at the Jewish Community Centre.
Visitors can expect community drumming, Israeli dance, Mediterranean belly dancing, Flamenco, music by the Israeli Choir and a sing-along with Israeli musician Elad Shtamer. There will also be various workshops teaching sesame cooking, intuitive painting, and calligraphy.
Those ages 19 and older can attend the Israeli wine tasting and cocktail party which will sample Arak-based cocktails (Arak is an alcoholic drink made with aniseed and grapes) and feature an exhibition of video art from Israel's Bezalel Art University.
A market will showcase local Israeli vendors selling hand-poured candles, jewellery, clothing, crafts, Judaica, cuisine, and more.
