Global superstar Joker Xue is coming to Vancouver this week, bringing his brand of ballads and Mandopop to Rogers Arena.
The singer, from Shanghai, has put out 11 albums over nearly 20 years, gaining a fan base of Mandarin speakers around the world. At the same time, he's been a recognizable face on Chinese TV, including My Show, where he got his start, and Sing! China, a re-branded Chinese version of The Voice.
He's currently on his Extraterrestrial World Tour that will see him play nearly 100 shows (perhaps more), though more than 80 of those were in China.
Vancouverites can count themselves lucky as Xue only booked five dates in North America: New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Toronto, and Vancouver. He played here previously, in 2018, at UBC.
Among his biggest hits are the songs "Actor," "Ugly," and "Just Right."
Doors for the show open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 at Rogers Arena.
No opening act is listed for his show on the Rogers Arena website.
Tickets
Tickets are still available, but in limited numbers, with about 100 or so seats for sale.
Resale tickets don't appear to be available through the usual Ticketmaster system. That means tickets for sale are selling for their original prices, which aren't too varied.
The lowest-priced tickets right now are $355.90 (including most fees), while the best seats available come in around $512.
Transportation
TransLink notes there are some minor delays and slightly lower train frequency on the Canada and Millennium lines this week.
Hullo hasn't lined up an extra sailing for Vancouver Island-based fans coming to the city for the show.
Restrictions
A few things aren't allowed in Rogers Arena for the show. Notably, some bags won't be permitted; all bags need to be under 35.5 cm by 35.5 cm by 15.2 cm, per the venue's bag policy. For reference, 35.5 cm is just a bit over 13 inches.
Rogers Arena is also a smoke-free zone, as far as cigarettes and cannabis are concerned. The band may have smoke machines.
Other common sense items, like skateboards, selfie sticks, and outside food and drinks, should be left at home. There are metal detectors and security at the arena's entrance gates.
Cashless venue
Rogers Arena is a cashless vanue.
"Concession, retail stands, and hospitality will exclusively accept contactless forms of payment," states the venue's website.
Fan service
Rogers Arena has a fan service number to text if there are any issues during the show: 604-765-3267.
Concert-goers can text their issue and their location (seat number and row along with the section) and get help.
