Coming to Vancouver next month is an art festival accessible to everyone, so long as they know where to look.
The team behind the Vancouver Mural Festival is once again hosting the VMF Winter Arts event which was started last year in the midst of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Running from Feb. 11 to 27, VMF Winter Arts is set to transform the city’s downtown core into an interactive, open-air gallery and celebration of art and live entertainment.
Presented by the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, the event features augmented reality (AR) art, light installations, and live performances across downtown.
Over the 17 days, free public art and AR exhibits can be discovered through your smartphone along the VMF Winter Arts route from Canada Place, along Burrard to Bentall Centre and Park Place, to the Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver Public Library Square, Yaletown, BC Place and Science World.
A new addition to the festival this year, the Winter Arts Hub will be a central, outdoor space where attendees can enjoy food, drinks, art, and free live performances.
The live entertainment scheduled for the event includes DJs, drag shows, and dance performances plus Cirque du Soleil VR and shows by CircusWest. The event also offers guided and self-guided tours of the exhibits through VMFs free app. For more information, you can check out VMF’s website.
