Vancouver's dazzling festival of lights returns next month.
The annual Lumière Festival will transform parts of the city into a shimmering wonderland with glowing installations and events. No need to wait until the Christmas holidays to experience a twinkling spectacle.
From Nov. 2 to 6, the luminous event will radiate through Vancouver's Downtown, Yaletown, West End, and Gastown neighbourhoods.
Among the multitudes of interactive light sculptures and immersive installations, festival-goers can also attend a workshop and learn how to make fairy lanterns out of mason jars.
These are some of the must-see installations at this year's festival:
The Tunnel
What's a light festival without a twinkling tunnel? This immersive installation is made of 12-feet-tall cosmic structures complete with light and sound.
Where: Morton Park - 1800 Davie Plaza
Telefunkin Stage
This interactive TV installation is fully immersive, meaning people can create a silhouette on the main screen, change the display using a large remote control, and control dancing cats on the screen with a video game controller. A DJ will play live music to add to the fun experience.
Where: Jim Deva Plaza - 1200 Bute Street
Magic Crystal Ball Kaleidoscope
This giant kaleidoscope is approximately eight feet in size and has over a thousand LED lights inside which create mesmerizing, colourful patterns. In front of the kaleidoscope is a mysterious crystal ball that will translate a person's presence into a pattern inside the kaleidoscope.
Where: West End Community Centre - 870 Denman Street
Club Cloud
These colour-changing clouds rain prisms that throw thousands of rainbow light points in the sunlight and turn into an array of blue, purple, and white during the night. Festival goers can also change the cloud colours through a control panel inside the installation.

Jellyfish Forest
Take an underwater-like adventure through a forest of jellyfish with touch-responsive tentacles and 13,500 LED lights mimicking the ocean. The jellyfish will respond to touch by displaying a beautiful sting of colour.
