While you might not spot another fire-engine red, ultra-phallic slide, there might be some surprises on the downtown Vancouver film set for a raunchy new comedy this week.
In October, a massive, fire engine red penis and vagina slide — yes, you read that correctly — was erected in a Lower Mainland playground. Many people compared the eyebrow-raising prop to a statue that stood in Vancouver several years ago: a tall, bright-red statue of the prince of darkness sporting a large erection.
According to Hollywood North Buzz, the phallic slide was part of a set for a new untitled comedy about "four Asian-American women searching for one of their birth mothers in all the wrong places."
Crazy Rich Asians screenwriter Adele Lim is writing the R-rated flick, which stars Ashley Park (Emily in Paris). The movie also stars Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu.
The film is also co-produced by Vancouver-born funnyman Seth Rogen, according to Variety.
Now, a resident notification letter for JFC Productions Inc. states that filming for the production will take place at Aura Nightclub at 1180 Granville Street from Tuesday (Oct. 2) through Thursday.
All driveways and parkade entrances near the club will remain accessible but there will be a closure in a laneway.
No word on if that closure involves a massive penis-vagina combo.

Raunchy slide in Maple Ridge playground
Scott Stewart shared an image of the eye-catching slide installation on Twitter Thursday (Oct. 7), noting that while he isn't sure what movie they were filming, he'd "probably see it."
