The Richmond Sunflower Festival is making a return July 29.

The Richmond Sunflower Festival is making a return July 29 - with some modifications due to COVID-19.

The organizers boast that the festival - just off Steveston Highway, close to the Massey Tunnel – will have over 50 different types of sunflowers, dahlias, gladiolas and wild flowers blooming on over 20 acres of farmland.

The festival also noted that they have doubled the size of the farm to help people maintain social distancing rules and that there will also be lots of chances to take an “insta-worthy” photo.

“To ensure a safe experience on the farm we have doubled the planting of over 20 varieties of sunflowers and dahlias on 15 acres for you to enjoy, with additional wider paths,” reads the festival’s website.

Meanwhile, festival organizers also prepared many points of exit to make social distancing easier.

The event is scheduled to open July 29 at 12900 Steveston Hwy. Tickets will cost $12 for people who book online on weekdays or $15 for people who book online for weekends and holidays. The festival is free for children aged three and younger.
