Hosted by the Downtown Vancouver BIA (DVBIA) from July 3 to August 21, Summer Movie Nights is a unique opportunity for the city to come together to enjoy movies and popcorn like a big ol’ family!

On August 14th, Summer Movie Nights will screen its second-to-last movie of the summer, Disney Pixar's Inside Out (2015).

The movie follows the emotions of 11-year old Riley after her world is turned upside-down following a big move from her hometown of Minnesota to San Francisco. When the feelings of Joy and Sadness are inadvertently swept into the far reaches of Riley's mind, the only emotions left in Headquarters are Anger, Fear and Disgust. Through a series of tear-jerking mishaps, the individual emotions are forced to recognize each other's inherent value and come together to help Riley heal her trauma and gain acceptance of her new life.

The film, which has a solid 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes, has been celebrated by critics and psychologists, who emphasize Inside Out as an entertaining and accessible look into the process of psychology, grief and acceptance.

The screening takes place Wednesday, August 14th at 8:40pm at the North Plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery (šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square). As always, there will be popcorn, food trucks, plus LED light-up swings, GIANT boardgames and a few surprises for attendees that show up early. The Greater Vancouver Food Bank will also be onsite with their vegetable mascots to collect non-perishable donations for families in need.

Summer Movie Nights is FREE and accessible for everyone.
