Summer solstice space bash, anyone?
You read that correctly: the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is hosting an epic summer celebration on June 21. In honour of the longest day of the year, the centre will offer a range of activities as well as admission to a solstice party at the Museum of Vancouver.

The 'out of this world' interstellar fiesta will include a range of things to see and do including a feature show at the planetarium.
HRMSC Astronomer Kat Kelly takes viewers, "on a visual journey with a cosmic perspective on solstices and seasons through the solar system," in Solstices in the Solar System. In addition, the feature will highlight what that may tell us in our search for life in the universe.
First Nations knowledge holders Woody Morrison and Latash Nahanee will also perform Solstice themed storytelling. During the show, participants will learn how the Haida and Squamish approach and celebrate Solstice. In addition, Dr. Cecil Konijnendijk, Professor at the UBC Faculty of Forestry and Keely Langford, Park Interpreter at Metro Vancouver Parks, will animate biological interpretations of Solstice and seasonal change in our city.
Guests will also be able to grab a beverage and wander through a series of fascinating exhibitions at the Museum of Vancouver and Space Centre. The exhibitions will explain why the, "planet has seasons, how seasons affect other planets in the solar system, and how we will search for life on other worlds in the galaxy."
The licensed, 19+ event will have a cash bar and delicious food trucks on site such as Roasted Revolution and Taste of Heaven.
Guests may choose between the 7 p.m., 8:30 p.m. or 10 p.m. planetarium showtimes when they purchase their tickets.
