There's a vehicle on display at the Vancouver International Auto Show this week with a top speed of more than 455 km/h.
The 2025 SSC Tuatara Striker made its Canadian debut today, March 19. It's worth roughly $3 million.
The hypercar was unveiled to V.I.A. and other media that attended a tour in the exhibition hall of the Vancouver Convention Centre, where the show is being held.
It's one of more than 200 vehicles on display for the Auto Show, from exotic cars to new luxury electric vehicles.
The theme of "ELEVATE," according to organizers, aims to share both EV and gas-powered vehicles that improve consumer experience.
"Showgoers will find the latest technology-leading, environmentally focused EVs, coupled with lifestyle features and commercial vendors; this is a celebration of the automotive culture in B.C.," said Eric Nicholl, executive director of the Vancouver International Auto Show.
Nicholl, for a second consecutive day, addressed "the elephant not in the room" in that Tesla was pulled from the show at the last minute in light of "Tesla Takedown" protests across Canada.
On Tuesday, he issued a statement explaining Elon Musk's EV company was given mulitple opportunities to withdraw voluntarily.
Nicholl said the decision was made out of concern for public safety, including show attendees, exhibitors, and staff.
The 2025 Vancouver International Auto Show is on now until Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
