My late grandfather served in the second world war and while he didn't fall in battle, every year around this time I buy a poppy in remembrance of him and in support of veterans in BC. Not simply a decoration for your lapel, this symbol that you see below pays homage to the fallen while raising much needed funds for the Legion which helps not only aging veterans but an entire new generation of them who are returning from overseas and are in need of housing, career transition counselling and trauma relief.
